Shelley Rome
Team No Sleep is real and Shelley Rome is the captain, coach and chief executive officer. Shelley’s lack of sleep explains a lot about how she worked her way to being a syndicated radio personality at Z100 New York. But it explains nothing about how she got Chris Brown to sing “MMMBop,” how she got Meghan Trainor to play “shag/marry/kill” or how she got Liam Payne to accept a Nerf gun challenge. Most of all, her lack of sleep makes us wonder where she gets her boundless levels of energy and enthusiasm.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Shelley now holds down the 2 – 5 a.m. spot weeknights on Z100, the radio station she grew up listening to. Shelley is the only full-time female radio host on Z100 which has led her to doing speaking engagements for woman empowerment in the workplace as well as hosting various global events.
She’s interviewed just about every artist you’ve heard on Z100 in the past five years. She also co-hosts the nationally syndicated Weekend Throwdown With Jagger, and she lends her bubbly personality to Nickelodeon Radio. An insatiable pop culture explorer, you can see Shelley in her element on her recurring web mini series “Shelley and the City,” on the red carpet at the MTV VMAS, movie premieres and interviewing movie and TV stars for Clevver TV. A former intern for Elvis Duran and the Z100 Morning Show and 2018 Gracie Award-winner, Shelley still pinches herself every time she cracks the mic at Z100. When does Shelley Rome sleep? Seriously, we don’t know. We’d worry about her, but she always seems so excited to be wherever she is, especially if there’s a microphone nearby or an audience to listen.
